Why I love flying drones
Flying drones is one of my biggest passions.
Growing up as a kid, there was one constant on my Xmas wishlist - a DJI drone. Too expensive, it remained a dream.
Years later, during my gap year, I came across a store in Hong Kong that was selling heavily discounted DJI drones. I saw the opportunity, and bought a DJI Air2S drone. Little did I know it would become one of the best investments ever.
Coming from a background of flying planes, flying a drone was something that came naturally. I love the art of piloting it smoothly, without worry about risking your life in maneuvers.
However, beyond the experience of flying drones, it's the storytelling you can do with a drone that's made drones stick with me.
Before getting into drones, I had fun flying, making short films/taking pictures, and storytelling. I realized drones naturally became a vehicle for me to engage in all 3 hobbies (or should I call them passions?)
For one thing, flying drones helps inspire a completely new perspective on life. Especially on those rough days, taking the drone for a spin helps clear my mind - you're literally a bird, podracing through the sky, how much more carefree can you feel?
When I began building my startup during my gap year, it became clear that flying drones was a passion. As I became more immersed in my work, I sacrificed hobbies - except flying drones. I'd always find some reason to break out the drone and explore a new area (some of my fav pictures!)
